04.1.2Containers
Loading a container is a complex operation which requires care to ensure that the cargo is not damaged. This page lists some of the rules which must be followed to ensure that the goods are transported safely.
- the container must be inspected internally and externally before loading to check for damage;
- the maximum permitted payload for the container must not be exceeded. Do not exceed the maximum payload with the goods under any circumstances (the weight is indicated on the container itself and in some cases subject to more restrictive regulations in the importing country);
- the load must be evenly distributed and adequately secured inside the container;
- suitable equipment must be used to load the container to prevent damage being caused to the it. Do not use heavy forklifts to containerise goods, as they may damage the floor;
- during the sea journey and during time in port, a considerable amount of condensation may accumulate inside the container. Make sure the goods are suitably packaged to prevent damage caused by the moisture and salt;
- when loading is completed, seal the container yourself. Do not ask the driver to seal the container in your place: it is your sole responsibility to do so;
- loading must take place within the permitted time period for this type of operation (usually 4 hours if no specific time is required). If it is not possible to complete loading within this time, notify Tecnofreight promptly;
- certain types of goods (e.g. frozen, liquid, hazardous) may be subject to special rules that must be followed to protect the cargo. Please do not hesitate to contact Tecnofreight at the time of booking;
